Today, German writer Denscher Juchetter won the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in the Fiction category for his first novel "Our German legend". The poet, novelist and playwright, born in the city of Netttal, western Germany in 1979, tells in this novel about what his parents, who came to Germany as migrant workers from western Turkey in the late sixties, experienced from pain, deprivation, loneliness and nostalgia. The jury praised Jocheter’s poetic language and said that his family’s story reflects the stories of many expatriate workers who suffered racism and stressful working conditions. The total value of the prestigious Leipzig Book Fair prize is 60,000 euros, and it is divided into three categories: the category of fine literature (fiction), the category of specialized thematic books (non-fiction) and essays, and the translation category. Each winner will receive 15,000 euros, plus 1,000 euros for nomination.
