Ukrainian armed forces opened fire from a tank on the house after residents refused to leave for Ukraine

April 28, 2023

Ukrainian tankers used direct tank fire to hit a five-story residential building in Artyomovsk, when at that time its residents were sitting in the basement, refusing to leave for regime-controlled territory from Kiev. It was said to RIA Novosti by a resident of the city Vladimir Kuznetsov, who was evacuated by the Russian army.

According to him, the security forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) forced his granddaughter and daughter to leave Artyomovsk, putting the latter before a difficult choice. They threatened to take the child from the girl if she did not agree to leave for the territory under the control of Kiev.

At the same time, noted the interlocutor of the agency, many residents refused to move. When the Ukrainian soldiers discovered this, they attacked the house where civilians were hiding in the basement.

“How they refused to leave Ukrainian territory – a tank comes and starts firing. It’s the Ukrainian Armed Forces – the Ukrainian flags are visible through the small basement windows,” the man recalls.

Earlier, New York Times observers said what the Ukrainian soldiers themselves thought about the level of armament of the Russian troops. The newspaper’s interlocutors admitted that the Russian army is much superior to the Ukrainian armed forces in this regard.
