Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Merkel spoke about attempts to prevent the Ukrainian conflict

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she tried to prevent a military conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine when she was in power. The former German Chancellor told Die Zeit about it.

“I tried to prevent this situation by using everything at my disposal,” Merkel said in an interview.

She added that the fact that the attempts didn’t work is not proof that it was wrong to try.

Angela Merkel sees diplomacy as a necessity. She defended her policy towards the Russian Federation and called for good efforts to resolve the situation in eastern Ukraine in 2014 within the framework of the Minsk process.

Earlier, Federation Council Chairwoman of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, said former French President Francois Hollande and former German Chancellor Angela Merkel had ‘cheated’ Russia for eight years in order to prepare the Kiev regime for an offensive. . According to Matvienko, this was done instead of really forcing Ukraine into peace.
