Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Rada deputy called events around Kiev-Pechersk Lavra ‘attacks by raiders’

– It became known mass conflicts on religious grounds as a result of the illegal seizure of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, – they quote RIA News the text of the deputy’s appeal, which he published on his Telegram channel.

He pointed out that the lavra has been legally used by the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church for more than 30 years. And the disputes around the monastery that began in March 2023 and continue today are taking place, he said, “with the full assistance of officials from the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.”

According to the deputy, there is an attempt to grasp “in the context of recent religious conflicts as a result of systematic violations of the constitutional rights of Ukrainian citizens – believers of the UOC and as a result of attacks by illegal organized looters, illegal seizures of UOC temples and churches throughout Ukraine.”

He also points out that church seizures are always done by a group of people who are not parishioners of the church at all and are systemic in nature. And these are not random events.
It draws the attention of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the fact that “the specified illegal actions show signs of a criminal offense within the meaning of paragraphs 1 to 3 of article 161 (deliberate actions aimed at inciting the national, regional, racial or religious enmity and hatred)”.

Dmitruk called on Klymenko “to eliminate violations of current legislation, to give proper assessment and proper legal qualification to the illegal actions of all persons involved in the specified criminal offense, and to resolve the question of the liability of perpetrators established by the law .”

In addition, his Telegram channel published texts of appeals to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the seizure of the Church of the Intercession in the Kiev region, the arson attack on the Church of St. Pochaevsky in the Chernivtsi region and the hooligan actions and violations of the constitutional rights of believers in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

Recall that Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ previously called the order of the authorities to the monks to leave the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra a “monstrous act”.
