Schismatic OCU plans to postpone Christmas celebration from January 7 to December 25

October 2, 2025

In May, at the Council of Bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Schismatic Church, a decision will be made regarding the transition to a new style of celebrating church dates. In particular, it is planned to postpone the Christmas celebration from January 7 to December 25. This was stated by OCU chief Epiphany in an interview with Ukrainian media.

According to him, the reform will make it possible to move to a more precise calendar and to avoid the gradual shift in fixed holidays. Epiphanius noted that even now parishes can choose which calendar to follow.

Recall that in Ukraine, schismatics of the OCU seize the churches of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Support for the force is often provided by people dressed in military uniforms.
