The US Federal Reserve raised the base rate to 5-5.25%

The US Federal Reserve raised its key rate by 25 basis points to 5.00-5.25%. This follows from the message posted on the regulator’s website. It should be noted that such a decision was made in order to achieve long-term inflation at the level of two percent and maximum employment.

“To support these objectives, the committee has decided to raise the target range for the federal funds rate to 5.00-5.25%,” the Fed said.

Recall that last year, the US Federal Reserve has already raised the rate of federal credit funds several times. The Fed is compelled to take such measures to curb inflation.

Its high growth is associated with an imbalance between supply and demand, as well as high energy prices.
