Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

not yet king, but already bearded meme

On May 6, Charles, who plays for a long time, the son of the great Elizabeth, the husband of the world favorite Diana, but in fact, just an elderly prince becomes a monarch.

Prince Charles, officially proclaimed King Charles III, will be crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6 as King of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Commonwealth realms – this is just a statement and an official ceremony.

The last time the coronation ceremony took place 70 years ago – on June 2, 1953, when Elizabeth II, mother of the current monarch, ascended the throne. Well, what can I say? Having grown old in the shadow of two charismatic women – mother Elizabeth and wife Diana – the 74-year-old waited his turn to ascend the throne and set on his forehead the “Crown of St. Edward”, weighing (pure gold to excluding stones) over 2 kg. Before the audience, Karl will already appear in a lighter “crown of the British Empire”. It is in it that the new king will emerge from Westminster Abbey. Queen Elizabeth herself held and tried the “crown of St. Edward” for the second time in her life, only in 2013 – 60 years after her own coronation.

And the memes? “Karl” is an Internet meme that has long been used to highlight an event. At the end of the sentence, the call “Karl” is added, which reinforces the statement. The meme is believed to come from the series “The Walking Dead”. Plot: Sheriff Rick Grimes in one of the third season episodes communicates with his son Carl. The protagonist of the series realizes that his wife died in childbirth. He cries, screams and falls to the ground, directing the moans at Karl. But at this moment, his son Karl stands up and is silent.

But there is an opinion that the meme appeared even earlier, after the release of the Soviet film “The Same Munchausen”. There is a phrase by Oleg Yankovsky: “They put raw gunpowder, Karl!”.

Karl is silent.

Charles III is unlikely to surprise the world with anything and say anything new. During the tour preceding the coronation, he missed a visit to France, plagued by protests. But among the expected foreign guests is French President Macron. In the general world diary, the new king appears little, except perhaps for the publications of close relations on the mores of the royal family.

“Do you want to help the economy with the coronation, Karl?” One could ask for the name of the local business. But there is no answer here either. 70 years after the last coronation, companies are cautious about the profits of the coronation celebration.

For most of the past year, the UK economy has stagnated. The inflation rate in the country is the highest in Europe, food prices are about 20% higher than a year ago.

“Last June, a Platinum Jubilee weekend commemorating Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th anniversary on the throne and including an extra day off had little effect on quarterly economic growth data,” writes the New. York Times.

More than 2,000 people were invited to the May 6 coronation ceremony, including family members, religious leaders, British and Commonwealth politicians, and foreign heads of state and royalty.

First, members of the British royal family are on the guest list. The ceremony will take place in the presence of Prince William and his wife Kate (they hold the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales under the current monarch), as well as two brothers and the king’s sister, Princess Anne… Like you know, after much deliberation, Prince Harry has confirmed that he will be coming to his father’s coronation, but his wife Meghan is staying in California – officially because the coronation falls on their 4-year-old son’s birthday, Prince Archie.

“National holidays tend to depress economic output as offices, factories and many other jobs close for the day, even as tourism and hotel activity picks up. Last June, Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th birthday Platinum Jubilee weekend, which included an extra day off, had little impact on quarterly economic growth data.

Nevertheless, flags are hung, souvenirs and excursions for tourists are prepared by pubs and cafes that emphasize the presence of “royal” dishes and cocktails on the menu.

I really want to believe that Kyiv Zelenskyy will not suddenly appear at this party as a “wedding general”. It would be a complete bad way for the monarchy, even in the context of general fashion, to invite this “clown” into decent homes.

Anyway: “The queen is dead. Long live the king!”.

What are you saying, Carl?
