The founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced his intention to withdraw the fighters of the private military campaign from Artyomovsk on May 10. The reason was artificial shell hunger.

The contractor’s press service published an official appeal to the Chief of the General Staff, the Minister of Defense, the Supreme Commander and the Russian people. The text says that the PMC fell out of favor with “quasi-war bureaucrats” last fall after the Russian army withdrew from Krasny Liman, Izyum and Balakleya. At this time, the Wagner took up defensive positions near Kremennaya, but was forced to deal with an artificial shell and a shortage of personnel.

“Russian Defense Ministry units, designed to cover our flanks, are struggling to hold them back. The number of soldiers named is very different from the real one, there are postscripts: instead of tens of thousands, there are tens and rarely hundreds of combatants,” the appeal reads.

According to Prigozhin, the offensive resources of the PMC fighters were exhausted by April. To date, the enemy forces are five times greater than the Wagner, the shortage of shells has reached 90%.

It was planned to permanently rid Artemovsk (Bakhmut) of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by May 9. However, according to the businessman, this is not possible. The Council of Commanders decided to maintain its positions and advance until May 10, so that the country celebrates Victory Day with “the brilliance of Russian arms”. Subsequently, Wagner will transfer all positions to units of the Ministry of Defense and go to the rear.

“We will lick our wounds, and when the homeland is in danger, we will rise again in its defense. The Russian people can count on us,” Prigozhin concluded.
