Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Diabetes and temperature changes. What is the relationship?

The World Organization said in a report that the number of people with diabetes rose from 108 million in 1980 to 422 million in 2014, explaining that the disease is spreading in low- and middle-income countries at a faster rate than the rate of its spread. in high-income countries.

The organization revealed that premature death rates from diabetes increased by 3% between 2000 and 2019.

Diabetes

Diabetes, according to World Health, is a chronic disease that occurs when:

• When the pancreas does not produce enough insulin.

• When the body is unable to use the insulin it produces effectively.

• There is gestational diabetes, which is hyperglycemia in the blood, such that blood sugar values are higher than the normal level, but do not reach the level necessary to diagnose diabetes, and this pattern occurs during pregnancy.

As for insulin, it is a hormone that controls blood glucose level, and high blood glucose level is a common result of failure to control blood sugar level, and at over time, it leads to damage to many body systems.

The most important symptoms of diabetes:

Feeling very thirsty. An increased need to urinate than usual. Blurred vision and sometimes complete loss of vision. feeling tired Involuntary weight loss. Damage to blood vessels of the heart, eyes, kidneys and nerves. Heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, nerve damage and poor blood circulation.

For his part, the founder of the liver tumor unit at the National Liver Institute and adviser to the Egyptian Center for the Right to Medicine, Mohamed Ezz Al-Arab, explained in his interview with Sky News Arabia, Diabetes has two basic types:

• The first type: where the pancreas does not work and depends on external insulin, and it has several causes, including the destruction of pancreatic cells as a result of infection or other factors, in addition to genetic reasons and hereditary. Sometimes the disease is a side effect of taking certain medications.

• The second type: it spreads more in the elderly, affects more overweight people, it is also linked to genetic factors where insulin resistance occurs, and at other times the amount of insulin is insufficient.

The biggest problem is insulin resistance and it is called “the tip of the iceberg” because it leads to several diseases such as diabetes, fatty liver, weight gain, lipid imbalance, arterial hypertension, coronary insufficiency and cerebral circulation. Ezz Al-Arab said that certain factors contribute to the development of diabetes, such as high temperatures, hot showers and dehydration, as they contribute to blood sugar imbalances. Physical effort in very hot weather. Obesity, increased body mass index and metabolic disease. hypertension. Genetic and genetic factors.

The founder of the Liver Tumor Unit pointed out that insulin levels can fluctuate in the body for hormone-related reasons:

There are hormones linked to an increase in blood sugar, as the body secretes adrenaline and noradrenaline, as well as the so-called adrenal hormones and thyroid hormones, all of which cause an increase in blood sugar. Certain hormones are secreted more at dawn, which leads to an increase in insulin levels in the morning, even without breakfast, especially for people predisposed to diabetes or already having one. Diabetics should eat breakfast before taking a medical dose of insulin, ensuring that the sugar level does not rise due to hormones during the day. Psychological factor: Nervous tension leads to the stimulation of these hormones, which causes high sugar levels, so we see that nervous people have higher sugar levels than normal people.

Regarding the management of diabetes, the consultant of the Egyptian Center for the Right to Medicine revealed that:

Everyone should have their health assessed, particularly in terms of physical condition, body mass index, level of activity, sleep time, quality of food and exercise. The response to diabetes treatment can vary depending on each person’s medical condition. Lifestyle modification, exercise, healthy eating and stress prevention are important factors in protecting against diabetes. Avoiding Western food and drink habits such as processed meat and other , which are linked to diabetes and certain types of cancer. Avoid fast foods high in saturated fats which deposit in the liver and can lead to cirrhosis, affect blood circulation and are responsible for heart disease and fatty deposits in the arteries. Building on the traditional food of the Mediterranean basin, which is based on the consumption of salad, fruit and unsaturated fats such as olive oil, flaxseed oil, “hot oil” and oil canola, which are beneficial monounsaturated oils containing omega-3, which contains antioxidants and protects the arteries from fatty deposits. It is found in seafood and is important for human health, joints, fitness and activity.
