The Semyonovsky district court of the Nizhny Novgorod region arrested 29-year-old Alexander Permyakov from the Donetsk region for two months on charges of attempting to murder the writer Zakhar Prilepin. About it in my telegram channel informed Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia.

The Investigative Committee (CI) charged Permyakov with terrorist attack (Article 205 of the Criminal Code) and illegal arms trafficking (Article 222 of the Criminal Code).

What do we know about Alexander Permyakov

Alexander Permyakov was arrested on the evening of May 6, hours after Prilepin’s car exploded in the Nizhny Novgorod region. When he was arrested on the way out of the village of Kozlovo, he told the police that “he was catching partridges on the pond in this area”, reported at the Ministry of the Interior. “But there were no partridges in that section of the lake, and there were no partridges at the present time either,” the law enforcement officer noted.

During interrogation, Permyakov said that in 2018 he was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence services and in 2022 he was tasked with moving to Russia, obtaining Russian citizenship and killing the writer .

According to the Interior Ministry, Permyakov had already been sentenced. How writing “Moskovsky Komsomolets”, when the detainee was 15 years old, he was sentenced to four years in prison for robbery as part of a group of people. Permyakov served time in a correctional facility near Bakhmut, and after his release he returned to Druzhkovka and became a worker, according to reports.

Blitzalso wrote that in 2014 and 2015 Permyakov took part in hostilities on the side of the DPR. In February 2015, the newspaper writes, Permyakov tried to cross the border with Russia on foot near the village of Kuibyshevo, but customs officers found a bayonet knife from a Kalashnikov assault rifle in his backpack. The criminal case was not opened because Permyakov refused to cross the border, the article said. Until 2022, Permyakov worked at a construction site in Druzhkovka, writes MK.

Assassination attempt on Prilepin

On Saturday, May 6, an Audi Q7 car, in which Zakhar Prilepin was driving, exploded in the Nizhny Novgorod region, about 80 km from the city of Bor. As a result, the writer’s legs were broken, his driver Alexei Shubin with the call sign “Evil” died. According to Prilepin, Shubin was sitting in the passenger seat, under which the explosion occurred. According to the writer, “there were two mines”. “If I had detonated the second one, everyone would have died,” he suggested.

After the assassination attempt, Prilepin was transported by helicopter to the regional hospital in Nizhny Novgorod. There, according to the governor of Nizhny Novgorod Gleb Nikitin, the writer underwent an operation. On the morning of May 7, Prilepin was taken out of drug-induced sleep.

Russian Foreign Ministry appointed the attempted assassination of Prilepin “a terrorist act organized and carried out by the Kyiv regime, supported by Western conservatives”. The department said the explosion of the writer’s car was supervised by Ukrainian special services. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said it could neither confirm nor deny the SBU’s involvement in the Prilepin assassination attempt. Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, called the incident “an attempt at internal escalation in Russia”.
