The Hungarian foreign minister added: “From the beginning, we declared our condemnation of the war and helped Ukraine a lot”, but added: “We did not allow the transfer of arms to it” .
He continued: “Zelinsky and others have accused us of taking Russia’s side”, and yet “we have to work to create a space where we can discuss peace as an issue, and we want to keep the channels of open communication between all parties, but the signs are not encouraging.”
He stressed that “our priority is a ceasefire to start peace talks in Ukraine”.
And the Hungarian Foreign Minister estimated that the war has been intensifying for a year and a half, and that calls for peace have not found an echo, stressing that the majority of countries outside NATO want peace.
Regarding the growing tension between Russia and NATO, Peter Siarto said: “NATO’s involvement in the conflict between Moscow and Kiev means the outbreak of a third world war”, adding: “We are witnessing a growing risk of a nuclear conflict”.
And he stressed that “we must work to avoid a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia”, stressing the need for NATO not to get involved in the war in Ukraine, of which the minister expresses fear of his country to expand its area, and pointed out that the neighboring countries of Ukraine are among the first affected.
Hungary has repeatedly opposed the Western anti-Russian stance in its war against Ukraine, knowing that it is a member of the European Union and NATO.
