Lahore: Pakistani army troops on Wednesday maintained law and order in the country’s most populous Punjab province following violent protests in several cities and attacks on military installations following the dramatic arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in a corruption case. has been deployed. Punjab province police said in a statement that “miscreants involved in acts of violence, vandalism, damage to public and private property across the province have been arrested.” Police said in the statement that more than 130 police officers and law enforcement personnel were seriously injured during the violent protests by supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party. A Punjab Police spokesperson said that more than 25 vehicles belonging to police and government agencies were destroyed and burnt.
