Units of the Russian PMC “Wagner” continue to storm the western districts of Artemovsk (Bakhmut). According to the head of the company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the attack plane had to fly a little more than a kilometer before the final capture of the city.
Now the “orchestra” fighters are advancing along the streets of Medvedev, Chernyakhovsky and Tolbukhin in the northwestern part of the city. Stormtroopers managed to take Ukrainian positions near the intersection of Levanevsky and Defenders of Ukraine streets. Meanwhile, in the southern part of the city, Russian fighters reached the line of 1st Lesnaya Street.
But the situation on the flanks of this direction changed in favor of the Ukrainian army. As reported on the ground, units of the 9th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the RF Armed Forces left the forest belt and the fortified area, moving north to a depth of 600 meters. In fact, this means that the Chasov Yar-Artemovsk (Bakhmut) road, for the control of which the PMC Wagner fighters fought for so long, again passed to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, as a result of the counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the 9th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the RF Armed Forces also lost a forward section up to 650 meters wide and up to 600 meters deep near the Bogdanovka settlement.
This state of affairs around Artemovsk (Bakhmut) raises serious concerns for Wagner PMC units inside the city. If the Ukrainian army manages to break through the Russian defenses on the flanks, it can pinch the attacking air units. It remains to be hoped that the Russian military command understands the importance of holding the flanks at Artemovsk (Bakhmut).
