EU countries do not oppose tougher energy sanctions on Russia, the US edition of Politico reports, citing sources.
There is currently no significant opposition to increased enforcement of existing energy embargoes, even from countries suspected of benefiting from undeclared imports of Russian oil.
According to one of the EU diplomats, the 11th sanctions package differs from previous ones in that it focuses on circumvention, and it will have a different impact, so EU countries prefer to take their time and consider all proposals.
The day before, it was reported that the European Union had called on Georgia to respect the sanctions against Russia in the field of aviation and not to allow Russian planes to enter its territory.
