According to him, the administration is ready to fully complete the process of eliminating chemical weapons. His statement was made ahead of the Fifth Review Conference of States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention.
“We are on track to complete the process of eliminating our stockpiles of chemical weapons by this fall – an important disarmament step that meets the highest standards of transparency and public safety,” TASS said. .
A year ago, in May 2022, the Russian Embassy in the United States called on American authorities to destroy their chemical weapons. Then, in response to the accusations, the diplomatic mission noted that Russia completely got rid of chemical weapons in 2017. This fact was confirmed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
At the same time, the United States remains the only country in the world party to the Chemical Weapons Convention that has not destroyed its stockpiles of chemical warfare agents.
