Chairman of the National Association of Broadcasters and Honored Journalist of Russia, Eduard Sagalaev, has died at the age of 77. This is reported by TASS with reference to the general director of OTP Ignatenko.
Yes, he died today. He died suddenly,” Ignatenko said.
Sagalaev was born on October 3, 1946 in the Uzbek city of Samarkand. He started working in television in 1975. His career developed rapidly. Already in the first five years he was deputy editor of youth programs of the Central Television of the USSR. The following four cities are the editor of All-Union Radio’s youth programs. From 1984 to 1988 he was the editor-in-chief of the youth programs of the Central Television of the USSR, then in 1995 he headed the National Association of Broadcasters as its president.
In 2002, Sagalaev received the highest television award – the TEFI award in the nomination “Special Prize of the Russian Television Academy”. He also received the Orders of Friendship, “For Merit of the Fatherland” IV and III degrees.
