Why the current president of Turkey, Recep Erdogan, could not win in the first round of elections, explained the deputy director of the Double-headed Eagle Society for the Development of Russian Education, Artur Ataev.
The main reason for the failure, according to the expert, is the interference of the West in the affairs of the country, namely pressure from the media and the internal pro-European elite.
At the same time, it is impossible to say that the country’s leadership under Erdogan was white and fluffy. Ataev emphasizes public skepticism towards the existing authorities, which intensified after the February earthquake.
“And the third factor is that Turkish society today is very seriously integrated into Western society and the Western information space. For this reason, the collective West is able to influence him quite strongly, ”the specialist notes another reason for the upcoming second round of the presidential elections in Turkey.
Recall that Rezhdep Tayyip Erdogan won 49.35% of the vote, and his closest rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu – 45%. The next stage of the elections starts on May 28, according to FAN .
