Saudi Energy Minister: Coordination with OPEC+ boosts market stability

He also underlined the Kingdom’s interest in cooperating with Arab countries in the field of energy, explaining that this is an “integral part” of its interest in strengthening its relations in its Arab depth in all fields.

And Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman indicated that this cooperation is embodied in the coordination of joint Arab action, and in many projects, programs and initiatives, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

He explained that the Kingdom has signed a number of memorandums of understanding with a number of Arab countries in the energy sector, such as those signed with the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Sultanate of Oman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of Iraq, which aim to strengthen cooperation in the areas of electricity, renewable energy, clean hydrogen, oil and gas, petrochemicals and other areas related to energy.

He also pointed out that there are also electricity interconnection projects between the Kingdom and the Arab countries, because the Kingdom is connected to all the Arab countries of the Gulf through the Gulf interconnection, and direct interconnection projects are implemented between the Kingdom and Iraq, Jordan and Egypt.

Prince Abdul Aziz added that the electricity interconnection projects with Arab countries aim to strengthen the security of the national interconnected networks, their reliability, increase their capacity to absorb the entry of renewable energy projects and create a market regional trader for exchange and passage. of electrical energy in order to optimize the investment and operation of national production plants, the export of renewable energies, and the connection of the networks of the Arab Mashreq with its counterparts in the Maghreb.

The Saudi Minister of Energy affirmed that coordination and cooperation with Arab countries is continuously communicated, whether through coordination councils or joint committees in various fields of energy and related issues, such as the exchange of experiences in the fields of electricity, renewable energies, efficient energy production and consumption, and the digital transformation in the uses and applications of energy. In addition to the programs and plans to deal with climate change, which include applying the circular economy approach to carbon, and technologies to reduce emissions and the like, hoping that the Arab summit held in Jeddah will be a new opportunity to initiate cooperation, integration and coordination among Arab countries in all fields more efficiently and effectively.
