The UK has imposed sanctions on companies associated with Rosatom, Rosbank and Tinkoff Bank

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced new sanctions against Russia, which include a ban on imports of Russian diamonds and metals, including copper, nickel and aluminum. On this subject said on the UK government website.

The new sanctions package also targets 86 people and companies linked by British authorities to Russia’s energy, steel, defence, transport and financial sectors.

The sanctions are aimed at “prosecuting shady individuals and organizations associated with the theft and resale of Ukrainian grain”, as well as Russia’s advanced military technology and “remaining revenue resources”, the official said. Sunak’s office in a press release.

The sanctions, in particular, hit nine companies associated with Russian state-owned Rosatom. Among them, the British government names the company Umatex, which produces carbon fiber composite materials, and Triniti, which is engaged in research and development in the field of laser physics.

“Triniti lasers were mounted on tank chassis to blind aircraft optics and disable precision weapons,” the UK government said in a statement.

Personal sanctions were imposed on the founder of the Russian copper company Igor Altushkin, the general director of the Kalashnikov company Vladimir Lepin, the head of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant Oleg Romanenko, as well as 13 members of the board of directors of Gazprom Neft and five members of Transneft’s board of directors.

In the defense sector, sanctions were imposed on the Bryansk Machine-Building Plant and the Motovilikhinskiye Zavody Company.

Restrictions were also introduced against five financial institutions: Dom.RF, Metallinvestbank, Rosbank, All-Russian Bank for Regional Development and Tinkoff Bank.

24 people and organizations have been subject to restrictions in the transport sector, including Pawell Shipping Co, the State Grain Operator (GZO) company and its chief Nikita Busel, as well as six major Russian shipping companies, including Sun Ship Management.
