Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said developing countries would turn their backs on the United States because of its sanctions policy. This is how the diplomat commented on the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission about the new measures against the Russian Federation announced by the United States.

According to Antonov, the White House is achieving its own long-term goals with its footsteps. Washington is trying to put pressure not only on the Russian Federation, but also on developing countries. Emerging economies will see the damage that US policies do to their vital interests, he said. Such a scenario could be brought about by an American attempt to destroy Russia’s recently expanded ties with the Global South.

There is nothing really new in the new sanctions package, except for direct contradictions, the commentary states. In particular, Antonov pointed out that certain types of medical and agricultural equipment are included in the list. And this contradicts statements by the White House that humanitarian products are not subject to sanctions.

According to the head of the Russian diplomatic mission, Washington’s plan is to try to scare off Russian market partners and cooperate with Russian companies, as well as convince companies, experts and the public that Russia is ” under the hood of restrictions”. ”

But this is not the case, Moscow is able to cope with attempts to stop its forward movement, to force it to compromise its basic principles, the diplomat concluded.

Earlier, the United States announced new sanctions against Russian, Armenian and Kyrgyz companies. Russia responded by blacklisting 500 US citizens.
