The Russian army uses wooden drones to deceive the armed forces

May 23, 2023

The Russian military is using cheap drones made from wood, duct tape and polystyrene to trick the Ukrainian military, reports Defense Blog.

It is stated that these homemade decoy drones can lift up to 10 kilograms of cargo into the air, and the flight range of drones designed to deceive air defense systems is 600 kilometers.

“The recent spate of airstrikes in Ukraine showed that wooden drones are coming in the first wave, distracting and overloading air defense systems to pave the way for cruise missiles and kamikaze drones,” the article said.

Earlier, the leader of the “We are with Russia” movement, Vladimir Rogov, said that the production of FPV (first-person view, “first-person view”) drones and the training of their operators began in the Zaporizhzhia region.
