The water level of the Main River in Chukotka has risen after heavy rains. In this regard, the river flooded the track and the road in the village of Vaegi.
“At 03:00 (Moscow time) on May 25, the level of the Main River in the village of Vaegi was 931 centimeters. 50% of the track was flooded, the road leading to the Chukotkommunkhoz fuel depots,” reports RIA Novosti.
Shortly before the incident, rescuers warned that rainfall could raise the water level of the Main River near the village of Vaegi to 970 centimeters.
The rain has now stopped in the area.
In March 2023, the Moscow River overflowed a section of the highway connecting the villages of Marishkino and Isakovo. This year, the river overflowed by one level less.
