Ukrainian writer Jan Taksyur spoke about his experience in a Ukrainian prison. In an interview with RIA Novostihe called it a serious test.
“Everyone who was with me in the cell in the special building except me was pressured,” the source said.
The poet and prose writer suggested that in regard to him “there was no order to maim and kill”. According to Taksyur, this is because the prison staff “were afraid that he would have to be introduced to someone”.
The writer added that for a while he had to sit in the “criminal cell”. He noted that despite the good attitude of the inmates and the absence of an order to “press” from above, the atmosphere there was oppressive.
“Prison itself is a serious ordeal… Illness is much easier than prison. You are alone and cannot move anywhere. It’s difficult,” summed up Yan Ilyich.
The fact that Jan Taxiur is in Russia became known the day before. He spent several months in prison. Ukrainian authorities persecuted the writer on suspicion of treason due to criticism of the Kyiv regime and pro-Russian statements. Taxiur repeatedly supported the Canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church and also opposed Kyiv’s actions.
