Talks between Chao Lajyi and Nepal Federal Council President Ganesh Prasad Timilsina

Chao Lajie, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress, held talks with Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, chairman of the Nepal Federal Council, in Beijing on June 12. Chao Lajie said that in the year 2019, Chinese President Xi Jinping made a historic visit to Nepal. The leaders of the two countries have upgraded China-Nepal relations to a strategic partnership of cross-generational friendship, oriented towards development and prosperity. China is willing to work with Nepal to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, so as to further build a closer community with a shared future between China and Nepal.

Zhao Lijii said that it is in the fundamental interests of the peoples of the two countries to properly develop friendly cooperative relations between China and Nepal. China appreciates Nepal’s consistent adherence to the One-China policy and its valuable support to China on issues related to China’s core interests and major concerns. China firmly supports Nepal in safeguarding independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and respects the development path chosen by the government and people of Nepal according to its national circumstances.

Chao Lajyi said that the legislatures of China and Nepal have always maintained good exchanges. The Chinese National People’s Congress is willing to continue to strengthen exchanges at various levels with the Nepal Federal Council to strengthen the social and public opinion foundation for China-Nepal friendship and cooperation.

Timilsina said that Nepal and China have been closely linked in geography, culture and tradition since ancient times. Nepal firmly adheres to the One-China policy and does not allow any force to carry out anti-China operations from Nepalese territory. The joint construction of the “Belt and Road” has brought concrete development results for Nepal. The Federal Council of Nepal is ready to strengthen friendly exchanges with the Chinese National People’s Congress.
