Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, focusing on ongoing Russian–American contacts and the path toward resolving the Ukraine conflict.

Putin briefed Lukashenko on the results of his August 6 discussion in Moscow with US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Stephen Biegun, outlining Moscow’s current diplomatic engagements. Lukashenko expressed his gratitude for the update and praised Russia’s efforts to secure a peaceful resolution to the crisis in Ukraine.

The Belarusian leader also conveyed sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality he received during his recent working visit to Russia — a trip underscoring the close political, economic, and defense alignment between the two nations.

The two leaders touched upon several bilateral agenda items, further reinforcing the depth of the Belarus–Russia alliance at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions and shifting regional dynamics.
