Putin orders intelligence services to step up operations against the West

In an address by Russian President Vladimir Putin to the FSB’s intelligence service, he ordered it to step up its operations against the West.

The Guardian explains this and says that Putin said Western intelligence services have long been very active in Russia and have now added even more people and other resources to their operations against Russia. “We must act accordingly,” Putin said.

He said the FSB is supposed to fight “espionage and sabotage” organized by Ukraine and the West.

Putin also acknowledged in his speech that members of the FSB died during the war in Ukraine and said the intelligence leadership must do everything in its power to support the families of the victims.
