A cruise to celebrate a wedding on Kamaran Island in Al Hudaydah Governorate (western Yemen) turned into a tragedy, after no less than 14 people, all of them women and children, drowned.

And the Anadolu Agency stated that the victims of the sinking of a boat carrying wedding guests amounted to 14 dead, and it reported that "11 women and 3 children died in a boat sinking with 25 people on board in the sea waters separating the coastal area of ​​Al-Khouba from Kamaran Island in Al-Hodeidah Governorate.".

She added that "11 people survived the accident, including 6 people who were treated and are receiving treatment at Al-Thawra General Hospital in Hodeidah.".

According to the authorities, investigations are underway to find out the cause of the accident.

Local media says the group was on their way to attend a relative’s wedding on Kamaran Island when their boat capsized due to strong winds and waves, leaving them in the water for hours.
