Qatar Central Bank announced that "Humian" The prepaid national card is now available at banks.
The Central Bank said – on its official account on Twitter – that the Hamyan card can be used on all point-of-sale machines, ATMs, and online purchases in the country.
The Qatar Central Bank had announced – in November of last year 2022 – that it would soon launch the Himyan card as the first national prepaid card with a Qatari brand.
This launch comes as part of the Qatar Central Bank’s efforts to develop electronic payment services and enhance financial inclusion in the country.
The naming of the card means the bag of money used by merchants in the past.
The Qatar Central Bank said that the issuance of the card does not require a minimum balance. The card also supports contactless movement, indicating that it will cost less to process payment movements for card issuers, collectors and merchants.
He explained that the issuance will be more secure due to the exchange of all card transactions locally through the National Network (NAPS), stressing that the card supports all types of transactions such as paying on POS machines and ATMs and making purchases on the local Internet.
