“I knew the foxes roamed there often. I wanted to photograph the industrial landscape and show how devastated the once wooded area where these animals call home was,” shared author of the winning image, Charlie Page. The photo was taken in England, the prize organizers said.
More than 13,000 entries were submitted for the competition this year. Photographers competed in ten categories: Animal Behaviour, Animal Portraits, British Plants, Black and White, Seasons, Marine Photography, Habitat, Hidden UK, Wildlife in the City, “Untouched Forests”.
The best young photographer (RSPB Young British Wildlife Photographer of the Year nomination) was Willy Evans-Freke, who captured a sleeping owl.
According to the organizers, applications for next year are open.
