The Kremlin’s internal political bloc has decided on a preliminary concept for the future presidential campaign – according to it, a “candidate for power” should receive more than 75% of the vote. On this subject writing Kommersant, citing three well-informed sources close to the presidential administration (AP).
According to the publication, from March 29 to 31, a seminar for deputy governors on domestic policy was held in the Senezh management workshop near Moscow, they were brought to the desired goals for participation and the result of the candidate of the authorities. The newspaper’s interlocutors say that officials are instructed to proceed from the situation in their regions, but the presidential administration would like the turnout for all of Russia in 2024 to be above 70%, and the result of the “main candidate ” – more than 75% of the votes.
According to Kommersant, Vladimir Putin has not yet announced his participation in the elections, but the presidential administration, according to the publication, assumes that he will run.
In the previous elections – in 2018 – Putin got 76.69% with a turnout of 67.54%. That’s more than 56.4 million votes – a record in the history of the Russian presidential election. If the new targets are met, Kommersant notes, the absolute number of votes for the government candidate will exceed the 2018 results, since the number of voters in Russia has increased due to residents of annexed territories. The Kremlin sees no problem in achieving new goals, since support for the president is high, the main thing is the legitimacy of the campaign, says one of the sources of the publication.
The newspaper’s interlocutors also claim that the presidential administration decided on the ideological orientations of the campaign. In the domestic political bloc, they believe it should be built on three blocks: “pride (sovereignty), hope (opportunities), trust (traditions)”. In addition, the campaign should be based on the principle “it was – it was – it will be”, that is, it is necessary to focus on the achievements of Russia under Putin, according to the sources. They also note that the campaign should also take into account the theme of the military operation, which remains “the heart of the information agenda”.
In early March, RBC reported that tasks related to the 2024 presidential campaign were discussed at a seminar for employees of the Kremlin’s inner political bloc. In particular, as the publication writes, a wish was expressed at the event – the result of the “candidate of the authorities”, as well as the turnout, should be higher than in 2018.
