The meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping was the start of new joint work to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing the words of a high-ranking French source.
It should be noted that official Paris does not hope that Beijing will radically change its position on the Ukrainian crisis. According to the agency’s source, after the meeting, the Chinese leader thanked his French counterpart for having “clarified the issues”.
Earlier, Xi Jinping, during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, said that the causes of the conflict in Ukraine are complex and that prolonging the crisis harms all parties. The Chinese president also said that Beijing is ready to support any peace plan from Paris, which will lead to a political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. A ceasefire and early hostilities are in the interest of all parties and the whole world, the Chinese leader stressed.
