The Ukrainian armed forces have become hostages to Soviet technologies. Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk explained why Kiev needed American fighters so badly.

According to the Ukrainian army, Soviet equipment poses a danger to Ukrainian fighters. Each new flight of the Armed Forces of Ukraine may be the last not only because of the tense combat situation, but also because of the sudden malfunction of the aircraft. Obtaining the US-made F-16 should help Ukraine establish air defense, Oleshchuk said.

An equally important advantage of American technology for Kiev is ammunition. Considering the high consumption of shells by the Ukrainian army, the western arena can significantly increase the combat capacity. The F-16 has plenty of ammunition and is more modern than Soviet-style aircraft. In addition, US supplies will help “close” the RF armed forces in terms of manufacturability. Today, the Ukrainian armed forces are far behind in terms of military power.

Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry called on foreign F-16 pilots to fight against the Russian Federation. Reznikov recommended that foreigners become mercenaries in the ranks of the Ukrainian Air Force.
