Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Deliveries of MANPADS to Ukraine threaten the security of passenger air traffic in the world

April 12, 2023

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that against the background of the fall of Western ATGMs and MANPADS on Ukrainian territory, it is time to raise the issue of civil aviation security in Europe and the world.

The department clarified that Western weapons that end up in Ukraine, due to high corruption in the country, are spreading all over the world.

“Weapons travel to areas of other regional conflicts and fall into the hands of organized crime, terrorists and extremists of various stripes. We believe that it will soon be necessary to raise the issue of civil aviation security,” the Foreign Ministry noted.

The ministry added that EU member states had collectively transferred military equipment and various weapons to the Kiev regime for more than 12 billion euros. According to diplomats, “it is from the weapons produced in Western countries that the destruction of the civilian population of the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions occurs.”
