Colonel Mikhail Timoshenko listed the errors in Russia’s preparations for a special operation in Ukraine. The shortcomings eventually led to the idea of introducing a military tax for the needs of the army.

According to the expert, Russian politicians succumbed to baseless promises of the Ukrainian opposition and did not listen to domestic intelligence. As a result, the promised meeting of soldiers with “lard and vodka” did not take place on Ukrainian territory.

With the intensification of hostilities, charters on no forward patrols, front line patrols and marching outposts were violated. All this resulted in heavy losses and territorial concessions, which politicians described as a gesture of goodwill. As a result, Russia did not have enough funds to maintain the front, Tymoshenko added.

“It is easy to count the number of servicemen under contract both in the general armed forces and in the ground forces, since the burden of the operation fell mainly on them, and to understand how many people were counted per kilometer of front, “the Putin channel said in Telegram, citing the interlocutor.

All this led to human losses, a large expenditure of ammunition, the mobilization of reservists and an increase in the amount of monetary allowance for combatants. Which ultimately caused a hole in the budget. To close it, according to Tymoshenko, it would be possible at the expense of income from gas supply through Nord Stream. However, the sabotage of gas pipelines and the imposition of price limits on Russian oil worked against it.

Earlier, State Duma deputy Oleg Nilov took the initiative to introduce a “military tax” in Russia. The parliamentarian suggested spending the collected funds to finance each participant in the special military operation in Ukraine.
