A new global paganism has arisen in the world, said Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. RIA Novosti quote him as saying.
“Today a new paganism is growing globally, based on the worship of various human derivatives – the worship of progress, science, technology,” the patriarch said.
The cleric noted that Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) are hindering the new paganism on a global scale.
At the same time, according to him, the Russian Federation has the absolute right to disagree with the ideas promoted by the new world paganism. He recalled that during the period of the Soviet Union, atheism was the official position of the state. “And we know how it ended,” he said.
Earlier, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ declared all those who participate in the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church atheists.
On Sunday evening, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus’ traditionally held a festive divine service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the service.
