The Basmanny court in Moscow sent the former Russian deputy culture minister, Olga Yarilova, to a remand center. She was charged with abuse of power, the court’s press service told Zvezda.
Yarilov will be in the remand center until June 16. It should be noted that the defense insisted on house arrest.
“The motion of the accused and the defense to elect a measure of constraint in the form of house arrest was rejected,” noted the court.
There is no official information yet on what the crime is.
According to TASS, Yarilova was arrested in a criminal case for embezzlement of more than 200 million rubles from the budget under the Pushkin Map project. The Telegram channel “112” notes that the former deputy minister is suspected of a crime of corruption.
Recall that in March, the director of the Federal Financial Supervision Service Yuri Chikhanchin reported to Vladimir Putin about fraud with the Pushkin card and tourist cashback. According to him, a criminal group has been identified, which, through figureheads, embezzled about 100 million rubles.
