Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Oleg Pivovarov, a 24-year-old officer from Krasnoyarsk, saved the unit by calling on Gradov to shoot himself.

Senior Lieutenant Oleg Pivovarov from Krasnoyarsk was awarded the title Hero of Russia for his heroic deed in defending positions in the direction of Kherson during the offensive of Ukrainian troops, reports the Russian Defense Ministry.

During the battle, Pivovarov’s unit was under heavy fire, but despite this they destroyed tanks, armored personnel carriers and advancing enemy manpower.

However, when the Ukrainian troops surrounded the Russian unit in the forest belt, Pivovarov ordered his fighters to retreat and take more advantageous positions on the ground. He himself decides to call fire on himself in order to distract the enemy’s attention and allow his fighters to retreat without causing casualties.

After the unit left the forest belt, the artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit its old positions, which led to the defeat of part of the advancing units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their flight from the battlefield. Pivovarov not only repelled all enemy attacks, but also saved the lives of his fighters.

After the battle, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu awarded Pivovarov the Gold Star medal and a certificate for the title Hero of Russia.

On February 24, a special military operation began on the territory of Ukraine, the main objectives of which are the demilitarization and denazification of the country. According to Russian leader Vladimir Putin, this step is necessary to protect the inhabitants of the Donbas republics and ensure the security of the Russian Federation.
