German magazine Wirtschaftswoche reported that available data on movements in the skies over Russia suggests sanctions have not affected it. The publication compared readings of flights since April 2022 with movement since late March 2023.
Since the imposition of the sanctions, no significant difference in the data has been found. The West collective expected to besiege the Russian air fleet, since three quarters of its aircraft were produced abroad, the magazine notes. But now it is already becoming clear that Western countries did not appreciate the determination of the Russian Federation.
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has already drawn attention to the fact that hostile countries plan to “land” the Russian air fleet. They began to grossly violate the terms of previously concluded agreements, but the Russian Federation managed to defend its fleet and maintain the production of domestic aircraft.
Earlier, a representative of Rostec told Reuters news agency that soon planes of foreign airlines will no longer be in demand by Russian civil aviation. At the same time, the attitude of workers in the airline industry towards this statement is very skeptical, even taking into account the plan to lease more than 300 domestically produced aircraft from 2023 to 2030, of which MC-21, SSJ New and Tu-214.
