The Russian Foreign Ministry considers the US Embassy’s decision not to issue visas to journalists from Sergei Lavrov’s pool as sabotage. The department began to take retaliatory measures.
“It is particularly emphasized that such sabotage, aimed at preventing normal journalistic work, will not go unanswered,” the agency said in a message on its Telegram channel.
In response, the senior diplomat of the US diplomatic mission in Moscow was officially approached and delivered a note of protest against the provocative actions of the United States, which disrupted the issuance of visas to Russian journalists. In addition, it was decided to reject the request of the American Embassy for a consular visit to the American E. Gershkovich, who was arrested for espionage.
The agency is also working on other possible response measures, which will be notified to the US side accordingly.
Recall that earlier journalists from the Lavrov Pool received visas to the United States when the plane on which they were supposed to fly took off. The journalists were to accompany the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry on a working trip to New York, where he chaired meetings of the UN Security Council on April 24-25.
