The Qatari athletics team raised its tally to 13 colored medals in the competitions of the second day of the West Asian Championship for men and women – Qatar 2023, which is held on the track and field of Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar Club and continues until tomorrow under the auspices of the Seashore Group, the official sponsor of the Athletics Association, with the participation of 12 teams. It is the host country team and the teams of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, Yemen and Syria. The men’s 400-meter race witnessed a great brilliance for our runners, after they imposed their control on the podium by achieving the first and second places, as our runners Ammar Ismail Yahya succeeded in finishing the race with a time of 46.23 seconds, and his colleague Ashraf Hussein Othman came in second place with a time of 47.33 seconds, and the Iraqi Yasser Ali Saadawi finished. In third place with a time of 47.35 seconds.

Our runner Mubarak Mahmoud also won the bronze medal in the men’s 800-meter race, behind Yemeni Abdullah Al-Yari, who finished in the lead, winning the gold medal with a time of 1:49.64 minutes, and Omani Hussain Mahmoud Al-Farisi, who won the silver medal after finishing the race with a time of 1.50.14 minutes.

The Bahraini Abdulrahman Mahmoud achieved a new record in the championship in the men’s shot put competition with a distance of 20.65 meters, while the Iraqi Muhammad Baqir Al-Hamidawi finished second with a distance of 17.55 meters, and our hero Dajbrin Ahmed won the bronze medal with a distance of 17.55 meters as well. The West Asian Athletics Championships will continue for the third day in a row on the track and field of Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium, with 7 finals in men’s pole vault, women’s javelin throw, women’s 5,000-meter high jump, men’s discus throw, women’s 400-meter hurdles and men’s 400-meter hurdles.

Our champion, Saja Issa Saadoun, who won the gold medal in the women’s 400-meter race, expressed her great happiness for winning the gold medal and said" I feel very proud to participate in the championship among a distinguished constellation of male and female champions. Thank God, my efforts culminated in winning the women’s 400-meter race gold, after a very strong competition. "
And she added: Praise be to God for this wonderful achievement, and this gold was the first on the second day of the Al-Adam mission, and we hope that Al-Annabiyya’s achievements will continue in this championship."
