India wants to increase trade relations with Latin America: S. Jaishankar

Bogota: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said that trade between India and Latin America is about to reach $50 billion and India wants to increase it further. He told that Indian companies are investing here on a large scale in sectors like energy, mining, agriculture and vehicles. Addressing the India-Colombia Business Forum in the Colombian capital, Jaishankar said on Thursday that the purpose of the four-day visit to Latin American countries is to find ways to further enhance India’s cooperation with the region.

Jaishankar said, ‘Our purpose in coming here today is to underline India’s growing presence in Latin America. Trade between us is going to reach the level of $50 billion a year. Our companies are investing in this sector on a large scale from energy to mining and from agriculture to vehicle sectors. When, where and how much to invest.

Talking about the areas in which India and Colombia can work together, Jaishankar said that India also has traditional methods of making medicine and health which can be used commercially.
