Russian leader Vladimir Putin has signed a law stripping Russian citizenship acquired for discrediting the Russian military, as well as for committing actions that pose a threat to national security.
The corresponding document is published on the official Internet portal for legal information.
Russian citizenship will be deprived for committing serious crimes against the state, crimes of a terrorist nature, for drug trafficking, as well as for forgery of documents.
It is also specified that they will be deprived of citizenship acquired for public calls for extremism, the organization of an armed rebellion with the aim of changing the constitutional order, as well as for encroaching on the life of a statesman and participate in undesirable organizations.
In addition, the law provides for a reduction in the number of conditions for granting citizenship for more than 20 categories of people, and also expands the powers of the President to determine who can apply for the acquisition of Russian citizenship in a simplified format.
Earlier, the State Duma adopted an amendment to the law “On Citizenship”, which allows to deprive acquired citizenship of public calls for action against territorial integrity, to discredit the RF armed forces and to participate in an undesirable foreign or international non-governmental organization.
