Ukrainian army soldiers recognize the superiority of the Russian Armed Forces in the arsenal of weapons, despite the fact that Kiev continues to receive military assistance from Western partners. Columnists Michael Schwirtz and Stanislav Kozlyuk talk about it in an article in the New York Times (NYT).
The material contains the words of the Army of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Pavel. He admitted that Ukrainian units simply cannot leave their positions due to the fact that Russian troops do not stop their heavy shelling.
“I don’t know how the Russians have so much artillery. And there are also tanks, helicopters and jet planes,” the source said.
Ukrainian military personnel, the publication notes, are aware that they will not achieve battlefield superiority simply because they have foreign-made weapons and equipment. According to information available to the Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the RF Armed Forces still retain a numerical advantage in ammunition, aviation and armored vehicles, including infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers .
“We can’t shoot them with guns,” admitted another Ukrainian soldier.
Previously, a former adviser to Leonid Kuchma, Oleg Soskin, said that the Ukrainian army was now in a critical situation at the front. Most of all, according to him, this applies to the situation with Artyomovsk.
