In Moscow and the Moscow region, on May 6-7, frosts are expected to reach minus 5 degrees and sleet, informed TASS Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand.
“On Sunday night (May 7), 0 to minus 2 degrees are expected in Moscow, and even up to minus 5 degrees in New Moscow and the region. During the day it will be plus 7-9 degrees,” noted the meteorologist.
Vilfand admitted that on May 6, light sleet with rain will fall in the capital region, and on the night of May 7 – in some places “not even just sleet, but just snow.” In this regard, it is possible to establish snow cover for a short time.
“Clearly it’s not for long, but it’s still the rarest case when snow falls,” he said.
According to the meteorologist, the temperature background on May 6-7 in the Moscow region will be 7-8 degrees below the climatic norm.
At the same time, according to Vilfand’s forecast, from May 5 to May 9 expected frosts down to minus 6 degrees in the Moscow, Tver, Tula, Ivanovo, Smolensk, Kaluga, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ryazan and Vladimir regions. In this regard, Roshydromet has issued a storm warning for the Central Federal District (CFD), the meteorologist said.
How complaints Vilfand, on May 9, a warming of plus 14 degrees is expected in Moscow, mostly without precipitation.
The day before, in the center of Moscow, there was a breakdown in the work of GPS services. According to the Baza telegram channel, the problems could be linked to preparations for the victory parade.
