US President Joe Biden has announced his trip to Japan to attend the G7 summit, which will be held in Hiroshima from May 19 to 21. The Head of State announced it on Tuesday during a press briefing with journalists.

The American leader will do so in the context of a potential default by the United States on the federal debt. He also admitted that the visit may have to be cancelled.

“It’s possible, but unlikely. In other words, if we had time to kill and this issue was still unresolved, and I had to leave at the appointed time, I wouldn’t leave. I would stay until everything is resolved,” Biden explained.

On the eve of the possibility of a default in the United States, said the head of the US Treasury Janet Yellen. She stressed that the Head of State will have to act within the limits of his powers if the public debt ceiling is not raised by decision of Congress.
