The decision of the Polish Geographical Commission to “rename” the Russian city of Kaliningrad to Krulewiec is a process bordering on madness and does the Poles no good. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“This is not Russophobia, but a process bordering on madness,” Peskov commented on the incidents with Kaliningrad and the Russian ambassador to Poland.
Peskov added that this is not the first time – it has been repeated since the XVI-XVII centuries.
“It does not bring anything good for Poland and the Poles, of course, these are only hostile actions,” concluded the presidential press secretary.
Recall that today we learned of the decision of the Polish commission to rename Kaliningrad in Krulevets. The commission called the current name Kaliningrad artificial, not associated with the city or region.
In Poland, it is considered that each country has the right to choose the names of the cities it deems necessary, especially if they constitute cultural heritage. At the same time, people cannot be forced to use names that are unacceptable in the language.
