Kiev: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that his country’s military needed more time to retaliate to push back Russian troops. Zelensky told the BBC in an interview that it would not be “good” to launch a retaliatory strike at this time as it could result in high casualties. Zelensky said, ‘We can move forward with whatever we have and we will succeed. But that would result in a large number of casualties and I believe it would not be right.
Zelensky said, ‘We need to wait. We need a little more time.” Ukraine has been fighting the Russian offensive for more than 14 months and the war is likely to continue for a few more weeks. Ukraine is getting tanks, armored vehicles and other modern weapons from western countries. Western countries are also training Ukrainian soldiers to counter Russian aggression.
According to reports, the forces of the Kremlin (Russia) have made defensive preparations in a radius of about 20 kilometers in the eastern regions of Ukraine and Kiev may face landmines, anti-tank trenches and other obstacles during the counteroffensive.
