Tehran. Iran’s appeals court has confirmed the death sentences of three people accused of shooting three law enforcement officers during mass protests in November 2022. Iranian media gave this information.
In mid-November 2022, Saleh Hashemi, Majid Kazemi, and Saeed Yagoubi allegedly carried out armed attacks on law enforcement officers during the protests that began with the death of twenty-two-year-old Mahsa Amini, killing three of them. Iranian news agency IRNA reported that the court of appeal has confirmed the death sentences awarded to the three protesters by the First World Court in January.
Hashemi has reportedly been accused of arms-carrying and being a member of the far-left People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, proscribed as a terrorist by Tehran), Yagoubi has been accused of buying and selling arms, while Kazemi Law enforcement agents have been accused of using Kalashnikov assault rifles. Several other people charged in that case were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment, but there have been no reports confirming their sentences.
