At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki will pay a state visit to China from May 14. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wanpin briefed Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki on his visit to China at a regular press conference on May 12. He expressed confidence that the visit will add new momentum to the comprehensive and in-depth development of China-Eritrea relations and promote continuous new progress in friendly cooperation between the two countries.
Wang Wanpin said that Eritrea is an important country in the Horn of Africa. Relations between China and Eritrea have always been good. In 2022, Chinese President Xi Jinping and the President of Eritrea jointly decided to upgrade China-Eritrea relations to a strategic partnership. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Eritrea. At present, mutual political trust between the two countries is deepening, practical cooperation has borne fruitful results, and the two countries maintain close communication and coordination in international and regional affairs. During Jesus’ visit to China, Xi Jinping will host a reception and a welcome banquet for him, and the two heads of state will hold talks.
