Turkey’s current President Tayyip Erdogan wins 49.35% of the vote after opening 100% of the ballot boxes, and his rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu – 45%. These data are provided by the TRT channel.

To win in the first round of the presidential election, one of the candidates had to obtain 50% plus one vote. May 28 has been set for the second round of voting.

According to Turkey’s Central Election Commission, ATA Alliance candidate Sinan Ogan won 5.22% and Muharrem Ince, who withdrew his candidacy, won 0.43% of the vote.

Erdogan spoke earlier at a rally of his supporters in Ankara, where he said he was ready to accept the decision of the people if he made a choice in favor of the second round of voting. “The difference in votes is around 2.6 million in our favour. The final results will only increase this gap. Therefore, we still believe in the possibility of winning in the first round. If the people have made a choice in favor of the second round, then we are ready to accept this decision as well,” said the current President of Turkey.

He also noted the record turnout in the elections and thanked 27 million citizens for voting for him and 56 million citizens for voting.

Erdogan’s rival Kemal Kalicdarogu during his speech to supporters noted that the opposition will definitely win in the second round of voting.

According to Anadolu, more than half of Turks who voted at polling stations in Russia voted for Kılıçdaroğlu. 38.26% of Russian Turks voted for Recep Tayyip Erdogan and 54.47% for Kılıçdaroglu.
